Dr Normah M Noor, PhD, FASc, received her BA cum laude in Biology from Macalester College (Minnesota), her MS in Crop Science from Michigan State University and her PhD in Seed Science from Universiti Pertanian Malaysia (Agriculture University of Malaysia). She is currently a Professor at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (National University of Malaysia) as well as the Founding Director of its Institute of Systems Biology, and was formerly the chairman for the School of Biosciences and Biotechnology, Faculty of Science and Technology.

Throughout her years of involvement in the Biological Science field, Dr Normah has committed herself to various research topics and her areas of expertise are plant cryopreservation of species with recalcitrant seeds, plant biotechnology, and seed science – seed physiology and storage. She also serves as a reviewer for many international journals. In recognition of the excellence of her scientific work and achievements, she has received various awards, the most significant and prestigious one being the appointment as Fellow of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia.
